Anna Akers, Class of 2014
Anna Akers is a senior Political Science major and
Psychology minor from Roanoke, VA. As the senior class representative for
Firsthand4You, Anna believes this program inspires college students to see the
value in being philanthropic and giving back to the community. By increasing
awareness about giving back, Firsthand4You allows students to create their own
class scholarship that gives others the chance to obtain a college education.
Anna is also a Presidential Ambassador, a Freshmen Mentor, a member of the
Student Activities Committee, a member of the Cultural Events committee, and
involved in Dance Concert. Anna has loved her Berry College experience and hopes
to be able to give others a positive college experience through participating
in the Firsthand4You program.
Leah Bolden, Class of 2015
Bolden is a junior Biology major and Chemistry minor from LaGrange,
Georgia. She is the junior class representative for
the Firsthand4You Program, and is also a Gate of Opportunity
Scholar. Leah supports Firsthand4You because, as a Gate Scholar, she
recognizes how much donors have invested in her education. Encouraging
the value of giving back, Leah wants others to experience the same
opportunities that she has been lucky enough to have received.
Colleen Curlee, Class of 2016
Colleen Curlee is a sophomore
psychology major from Lilburn, Ga. As a Gate of Opportunity Scholar as
well as the sophomore Firsthand4You representative, she realizes the incredible
impact that donors have had on the college as well as her personal education.
Without their support, she would not be at Berry. She plans to get involved in
many different clubs and programs on campus during her first year here and is
excited that she may get to help someone experience the same things some day
through this organization.
Rashelly Rusia, Class of 2017
Rashelly Rusia is a
freshman Psychology and Marketing double major from Grayson County, VA. She
emigrated from the Philippines at the age of three. Growing up, the greatest
influence in her life was watching her mother juggle two jobs as well as be the
backbone of the family. Because of that, Rashelly values work ethic,
responsibility, and compassion. She also
believes that working with Firsthand4You is going to be the most amazing challenge
so far and if people are given the opportunity to help others, they'll take
it—which is why she’s there to help support them!
