Work – The Value of Experience
For more than a century, work has been a core component of Berry’s student experience. Martha Berry understood intuitively that intellectual and practical skills could be combined to powerful effect in educating people known for their work ethic, moral character, integrity, ingenuity and commitment to service.
Rooted in that history, today’s Work Experience Program is both an indispensable resource for students and a model for other institutions. Open to any student who desires on-campus employment, the program features more than 300 different types of jobs – including such advanced positions as supervisors of student teams, project managers and CEOs of Student Enterprises .
As they assume increasing responsibility throughout their four years, students are encouraged to take ownership of their experience by embracing the values of personal motivation, service attitude and trustworthiness. The end result for graduates is an impressive resume reflecting the skills and work ethic they have developed through relevant, firsthand work experiences complementing their academic courses of study.
You can help to enrich these experiences through gifts to the FirsthandFund and work-based scholarships . Opportunities are also available to fund advanced work positions. Contact us today!
