Faculty/Staff

Countryman John Countryman (Associate Professor) is Director of Theatre at Berry. He is an Irish Studies scholar and has delivered scholarly papers on Irish drama and theatre in locations as widespread as Barcelona, Belfast, Nassau: the Bahamas and Calgary, Alberta. He is a member of the American Conference for Irish Studies, the Canadian Association of Irish Studies, the International Association for the Study of Irish Literatures and his articles have appeared in NUA, Irish Studies Working Papers and Theatre Symposium. He is the recipient of two Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival awards for directing, and was awarded the Kennedy Center Medal of Excellence in College and University Theatre for his performance as Nawadaha in HIAWATHA. Most recently, Dr. Countryman was a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at the National University of Ireland-Galway.
AliceNew Alice Bristow (Associate Professor) received her M.F.A. in Costume Design from Indiana University and her B.F.A. from Missouri State University. She has produced costumes for over two hundred productions at various theatres including La Jolla Playhouse, Indiana Repertory Theatre, University of Michigan, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Indianapolis Opera, Indiana University School of Music, University of Colorado at Boulder and Central city Opera, Central City Colorado. Nationally and internationally, Alice’s designs have appeared on state at the Pittsburg Opera, Omaha Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Central City Opera, Utah Opera and Vancouver Opera.
Richard Bristow Richard Bristow (Visiting Professor) received his MFA from Indiana University. Mr. Bristow recently received the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Faculty Merit Award for directing Letters to Sala. An accomplished voice actor, Mr. Bristow has appeared in many videogames, online presentations, business answering machines and commercials, including a National commercial as the Irish brew master for Tecate beer. He has worked in theatres around the country for over 30 years including The Denver Center Theatre Company, The La Jolla Playhouse, Central City Opera, Indiana University Theatre, and The Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Closer to Rome, he has worked at Georgia Ensemble Theatre, The Springer Opera House, Gainesville Theatre Alliance and The Georgia Shakespeare Festival.
SeamusSeamus M. Bourne (Technical Director / Scene Designer) received his MFA from Indiana University in 2009. Seamus moved to the Atlanta area to pursue a career in scenic design. His work as a designer has been seen on the stages of Theatre in the Square (where he also served as the resident designer and technical director), Atlanta Lyric Theatre, Actor’s Express and Georgia Ensemble Theatre. He has worked regionally in Richmond, VA (Henley Street Theatre) and Tulsa, OK (LOOK Musical Theatre). Seamus is also a two-time Suzi Bass Award nominee.
