New traditions and old favorites will
help alumni mark the 100th anniversary of Mountain Day, Oct. 3-4. A special highlight of this annual celebration of Martha Berry's birthday will be the Reunion Brunch, held at the Ford Reflecting Pools from 10 a.m.-12 noon, Oct. 4, for the classes of 1974A, 1974C, 1979A, 1979C, 1984C,
1989C, 1994C, 1999C, 2004C and 2009C.
Reunion classes are also participating
in a special service projects tied to the centennial, “100 for our 100th.” As part of the initiative, alumni and friends are invited to create "A Mountain of Cans" by bringing canned goods to donate. A convenient drop-off location will be set up at the campus entrance. All cans will go to Action Ministries Rome Food Pantry.
During the Mountain Day Convocation, 9 a.m., Saturday morning in the College Chapel, guest speaker William
“Billy” R. Blanchard (83C) will share his story on
the strong foundational principles he learned at Berry that continue to shape
and serve his life today.
After the traditional picnic and Grand March on Lavender Mountain, alumni will gather in downtown Rome to celebrate before the Viking football team takes on Washington University in St. Louis at 6 p.m.
Saturday at Barron Stadium in Rome.
Advance tickets to the Mountain Day game can be purchased Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 via a link at BerryVikings.com or at the Cage Center Information desk. Oct. 4 football tickets will be available for purchase at the Mountain Day picnic. All remaining tickets will be on sale at the Barron Stadium ticket booth, which opens at 4 p.m. for the 6 p.m. game.
