Communications Center
"Main Gate"
Main Entrance: A communications officer (dispatcher) or police officer is always on duty at the main entrance gatehouse. The police department communication center is located here. The dispatcher monitors incoming vehicle traffic at night, allowing only Berry personnel, students and authorized guests to enter campus. Routine and emergency telephone and radio communications are handled here. The dispatcher has direct contact (radio & phone) with the Rome/Floyd 911 Center for prompt response to fire and medical emergencies.
The gatehouse also serves a visitor center, after-hours switchboard and alarm-monitoring center. All alarms (fire, burglary, panic and malfunctions) report directly to a central monitoring system at the communications center.
Students and faculty-staff residents must notify the gatehouse of any expected after hour’s guests. This will allow their prompt entry into campus.
We ask that you notify the gatehouse of any information about a campus event you are sponsoring.
E-mail: gatehouse@berry.edu
The campus-wide emergency number is 236-2262 or ext. 2262 from on-campus phones.
