The Berry College Bonner Center for Community Service seeks to provide students, faculty, and staff with meaningful opportunities to serve communities locally and globally. The Center houses Berry College Volunteer Services, a student-led organization that plans extracurricular service opportunities in Rome-Floyd County and attempts to raise the social consciousness of the campus by hosting educational events that focus on community needs. In partnership with student affairs, the Center provides leadership development opportunities for students that enhance the ideals of service. The Center also coordinates the Bonner Scholar Program, a service based scholarship for students who have demonstrated active citizenship and who otherwise would not be able to afford a private education. Additionally, the Center assists faculty in understanding and implementing service-learning as a part of the curriculum. The Bonner Center for Community Service gives momentum and life to Berry's motto, "Not to be ministered unto, but to minister" by engaging the Berry community in service to others through extracurricular, co-curricular, and curricular activities.
