Berry College Registrar
Some General Information
- Undergraduate full-time status is 12-18 hours.
- An overload (over 18 hours of classes) requires a 3.00 grade point average for the prior term or permission from the vice president for academic affairs. Students may enroll for no more than 21 hours. NOTE: Summer overloads are different from overloads in a regular term. For additional information, please refer to the summer registration materials.
- Students on academic probation may enroll for 16 hours. You must also meet with the dean of academic services prior to registration.
- Students may drop a course only during the specified add/drop period (usually the first four days of the term, consult the calendar for these dates). Dropped classes are removed from the student's record and have no effect. To drop a course during the add/drop period, students must see their advisor and complete the One-Stop Registration, Add/Drop, and Authorization form and obtain their advisor's signature. When students have obtained the required signatures, they should bring the add/drop form to the registrar's office.
After the add/drop period, students may choose to withdraw from a course. To withdraw from a course, students must complete the One-Stop Registration, Add/Drop, and Authorization form with their advisor. During withdrawal periods students must also obtain the signature of the instructor of the course from which they are withdrawing. The instructor must indicate the last date attended and assign a grade. Students who fail to withdraw properly from a course will receive an F in the class. Withdrawals will remain on the student's record, and will bear a grade. These courses may affect such things as Hope and other financial-aid eligibility.
- Students who leave Berry (excluding students participating in a full-time co-op experience, students who are approved to study as transients, and students who are approved for a leave of absence ) must complete withdrawal forms with the office of the dean of academic services. Students who withdraw for a complete term must complete a new application for admission if planning to return to Berry.
- BCC 099 Library Skills is a degree requirement for new and transfer students. Freshmen may take BCC 100 Freshman Seminar (which includes a Library Skills component) to meet the requirement.
- Repeating a course? Repeating courses may affect NAIA eligibility or veterans benefits. Athletes and veterans should see the athletics director or veterans representative. See the Berry Catalog for more information.
- By federal law, grades and grade-point averages are protected information and may be released only with the student's written permission. Grades will not be released over the phone.
- Students may request transcripts through the registrar's office. To produce an official transcript, we need the name and address of the final recipient and the student's signature. Transcripts for those requests that allow standard processing (2-5 days) and are sent via U.S. mail or are picked up by the student are $5 per copy. Additional charges will apply for special requests or special handling. Currently enrolled students may print unofficial transcripts from VikingWeb. Unofficial transcripts produced by the registrar's office for students who are not currently enrolled are $5. Requests for transcripts made via telephone or e-mail cannot be honored. See the official transcripts link for more details.
