Steps for Easy Registration

  1. Schedule an appointment early to meet with your advisor during the advisement period. (see Academic Calendar).

  2. Preregistration is online using VikingWeb. Since VikingWeb is internet-based, you may register using any computer with internet access.

  3. You preregister on the basis of the total number of hours that you have earned. You may check your career hours earned on the unofficial transcript that is available through VikingWeb (Student->Grade Information->Total Credits). Please be sure that all transcripts from other institutions, all credit by exam forms, or advancement placement forms are in the Registrar's Office by the first of the month in which preregistration occurs. If you think your hours are incorrect, contact our office prior to preregistration.

  4. You may not register for an independent study, music lesson or internship online. You will need to get an add/drop form and an authorization form from your advisor (or the instructor of this special course). The authorization form for music lessons must be signed by the supervising instructor. The authorization form for independent studies must be signed by the supervising instructor, the department chair, and the dean of the school in which the course is offered. The Permission to Register for Internship form acts as the authorization to register for an internship. This form must be signed by the supervising instructor and your advisor. Bring the forms to the registration windows during regular registration hours. The registration schedule (the hours that the registration windows will be open) will be posted on VikingWeb.

  5. Other situations which require you to register in person are those which require special approval. This would include registering for a course that causes a time conflict; registering for a course which has a prerequisite or corequisite that you have not met; and registering for an overload.

  6. If you have a past-due student account or an incomplete admissions folder, a hold will be placed on your registration. You may not preregister until you have resolved the problem with the admissions office or business services office. If you are on academic probation and have not met with Dr. Kathy McKee, Associate Provost and Dean of Academic Services, you will not be allowed to preregister until you have met with her. You may check to see the holds that are placed on your record by logging in to VikingWeb and clicking on the Campus Web link. Any holds that have been placed on your record are listed on the main Campus Web welcome page.

  7. If you plan to work full time, you need to complete a "Full-time Worker Registration Form" with the Student Work and Experiential Learning Office.

  8. Although preregistration is online, you must still meet with your advisor(s). At the end of preregistration, your advisor(s), must notify the Registrar's Office that you have met with him/her. If you are not cleared by your advisor(s) your schedule will be dropped and you will have to re-register by completing an add/drop with your advisor and bringing the registration materials to the Registrar's Office during the next regularly scheduled registration period for that term. If you have more than one academic advisor, each advisor must clear you.

  9. Currently, online registration and add/drop are only available during the preregistration period. To change your schedule during the add/drop period at the beginning of the term, you must see your advisor and obtain an add/drop form and bring it to the registration windows during regularly scheduled registration times.

  10. Pay your fees by the fee payment deadline. Your schedule will be dropped unless you have cleared the business services office by the fee payment deadline.
