Please go here for information concerning the minimum requirements for your personal computer.
Registering to the Network
Student's personal computers will automatically be directed to the network registration system when first detected by the Berry network.
It is a three step process:
- Uninstall current antivirus software
- Complete the registration form
- Download the Berry-licensed antivirus software
Network Problems
Refer to the following when attempting to solve typical network problems, such as: web pages will not load, the Network appears to be running very slowly, etc...
- Is your patch cable plugged in securely? (This is NOT a phone cord)
- Is anything sitting on the patch cable or crimping it?
- Click Start and right click My Computer. Then click Properties. Click the Hardware tab and then Device Manager. Look for error indications or a yellow "?" under Network adapters indicating a hardware or driver problem.
- Can you connect to the Internet? Try more than one site that you have not visited recently. (On campus – berrynet.berry.edu or off campus - common sites such as www.yahoo.com , www.noaa.gov, www.google.com ).
- For Win XP Pro or Win2000 Users – Go to Start > Run and type in cmd and press enter. At prompt type ipconfig for Win XP Pro or Win2000. Is there an IP Address listed? Type IPCONFIG/Release and press enter to release, then type IPCONFIG/Renew and press enter to renew. Can you get to the Internet now?
- Still having problems? Close and then reopen the browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, or Netscape, for example).
- Still having problems? Try rebooting your computer.
- If this does not work then feel free to contact the Help Desk at (706) 238-5838.
