Classroom Success

     Berry College student-athletes realize that when it comes to a total college experience, education takes precedence.  That point is proven over and over again throughout the academic year.

     Berry student-athletes are also well-recognized on a national scale.  During the 2007-08 academic year alone, they earned 16 NAIA Daktronic Scholar-Athlete awards (formerly called Academic All-American Award). Berry athletes have earned a total of 176 Academic All-American/Dakrtonic Scholar Athlete Awards since 1983.

In addition, this season 12 teams were recognized as NAIA Scholar-Teams.  To earn Scholar-Team distinction, teams must own a minimum combined 3.0 grade point average. The Berry women's indoor and outdoor track team's set the standard with an impressive 3.46 GPA for the spring semester. The women's volleyball team, which finished with a 3.44 team GPA, was also recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as a Scholar Team.

     In order for student-athletes to compensate for the hours necessary to prepare for competition, a rigorous academic discipline is established to help them achieve their potential.  Teams employ study hall programs, and tutoring sessions have proven an invaluable asset to the Vikings and Lady Vikings.  Counselors also assist student-athletes wih the rigors of class schedules, registration and meeting the requirements of graduation.

     Berry College is committed to each student-athlete as a total person.  While the student-athlete at Berry is given an opportunity to attain athletic goals, the objective is to assure the academic success of each Berry student-athlete.
