Scholarships Available at Berry College
There are various named scholarships available at Berry College. Eligibility is based on individual academic and financial circumstances.
Academic Scholarship
Berry awards academic scholarships in recognition of superior academic achievement. All freshmen applicants admitted to Berry College are automatically considered for academic scholarships. Attributes used to determine scholarship eligibility include GPA, class rank (if available on the high school transcript), class rigor and the highest SAT/ACT score reported. Recipients are required to maintain an acceptable grade-point average while attending Berry College. To be considered for an academic scholarship, high school students must submit an application for admission, high school transcript, the counselor recommendation form, and SAT or ACT scores by February 1.
Transfer Scholarship
All admitted transfer students are considered for transfer scholarships. These scholarships are awarded based upon the cumulative grade-point average and the grade-point average at the last college or university attended.
Merit-Based Scholarship
To be considered for merit-based aid, a student must apply and be admitted to Berry. Merit-based academic scholarships are typically awarded to admitted students approximately two weeks after being notified of admission to Berry College. A select group of students will be invited to the campus to compete for additional scholarship assistance on Scholarship Day on February 14, 2009. Invited students must have:
- either a Berry-calculated GPA of 3.75 or higher and an SAT(Critical Reading plus Math) score of 1300 or higher
- or a Berry-calculated GPA of 3.75 or higher and an ACT Composite score of 29 or higher
Bonner Scholarship. The Bonner Scholars Program supports students with a passion for community service. Berry selects 20 incoming freshmen each year for the Bonner Program. The program is reserved for students who have demonstrated a commitment to serving others in their communities. At least 17 of the 20 selectees must have significant financial need. Bonner Scholars receive a stipend in exchange for their work in the Rome and Floyd County community and are eligible for special grants to help cover educational expenses.
Departmental Scholarship
Some areas of study offer scholarships based on interest and past performance in those areas. These scholarships are usually awarded at the junior or senior level. Please contact your department dean to determine availability of funds within your program of interest.
The WinShape College Program Scholarship
Created by S. Truett Cathy, Founder and Chairman of Chick-fil-A, Inc., the WinShape College Program equips students in the areas of discipleship, community, and leadership. As a part of the program, students receive a yearly scholarship of up to $8,000 per year. Participants will experience a training process that includes exploring their unique strengths while navigating a thirty foot sailing vessel and discovering their life purpose while standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Leadership Fellows Scholarship
The Leadership Fellows program recognizes high school graduates with extraordinary leadership and service records. The program also identifies Berry students who work to make a difference in providing and teaching leadership in the Berry community.
Endowed Scholarships
