Students are becoming increasingly aware of the strategy of combining a liberal arts degree with technological training as a means of gaining a competitive edge over their peers in today's job market. Berry College offers dual-degree programs in engineering and nursing through cooperative agreements with participating institutions. Faculty advisors in the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences assist students with their academic schedule planning. In cooperation with the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing of Emory University, Berry College offers a dual-degree program in nursing. Students completing this program are awarded the Bachelor of Science degree from Berry College and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory. Berry College provides the basic science and general education components of the pre-professional curriculum, and Emory provides the professional curriculum. Typically, students will take courses at Berry for three years and then complete two years of study at Emory. With the assistance of a pre-nursing program advisor, Berry students select from among courses in the humanities, social sciences, and the natural sciences that will provide them a solid liberal arts education and training in discipline-specific studies, including direct instruction, laboratory practice, and research in the natural sciences.
