Student Involvement bctc

The theatre program at Berry is centered on the experiences of the student. Students participate in every level of production including direction, design, stage management, acting, dressers, set crew, and many other positions vital to the smooth running of a show. Students participate in the American College Theatre Festival and the Southeastern Theatre Conference, and also may receive credit for participation in BCTC productions, whether onstage or backstage.

Berry College Theatre Company

The Berry College Theatre Company (BCTC) is a student-run organization that, with the academic and creative support of the theatre faculty, provides the college and community with quality theatrical productions throughout the academic year. Our shows run Thursday through Sunday for two consecutive weekends for a total of eight shows. BCTC also has monthly meetings and organizes service projects, fund raisers, and social outings. Membership is open to any member of the college community, and everyone is invited to the meetings. Elections are held annually among the active members to fill the officer positions for the next year.

Scholarships

The School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences offers scholarships to high-school graduates who have proven their dedication to theatre. Berry College awards approximately $20,000 in scholarships annually to students majoring or minoring in theatre. All scholarships are renewable for four years. Scholarship students participate in all mainstage shows. Auditions and interviews for scholarships and work opportunity in theatre are held at the Georgia State Thespian Convention each February, at Berry College each January and February, and at the Southeastern Theatre Conference each March.

Student Work

In addition to scholarship awards, the department participates in the Berry College Work Experience Program, employing about 40 students in various areas. Berry College’s Work Experience Program is like no other in the country. All students, regardless of family income, are guaranteed on-campus jobs every semester. Most students choose to take advantage of this unique opportunity; more than 95 percent of our students work at some time during their four years with more than 85 percent working during any given year.

Although these positions are open to all students, preference is given to theatre majors and minors. Students can choose from many different positions in the theatre:
